NWC EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – POSITION FILLED, June 18, 2014

The Norwood Water Commission is currently accepting applications for the position of Public Utility Technician.  This is an entry level position assisting in the operation and maintenance of the surface water treatment plant and distribution system under the general direction of the Operator in Responsible Charge “ORC”.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring, maintaining and repairing plant equipment, maintaining & repairing water main lines, monitoring supply tanks and all other duties assigned by the supervisor.  Knowledge of small motors, pumps and valves is a plus.  Must be able to obtain a Class “D” water treatment certification and a class 1 distribution certification within first year of employment.  Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and in possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license.  Experience with heavy equipment or utility construction is a plus.  Must be able to lift 100 lbs. and able to work in adverse weather conditions for long periods of time.  CDL is not required but preferred.  Must be willing and able to work a schedule that include on call hours, weekend and holidays as needed.  A pre-employment physical exam and drug screen may be required.  Must provide a driving history from DMV.
